AJA Summer School, at Charney Manor 24-26 July 2009.

‘In Conversation: Body, Soul, Spirit’

AJA's first Summer School was held at Charney Manor, Quaker Retreat and Conference Centre. The event was a part of the Jungian Analytic Training for Qualified Psychotherapists as well as being open to all AJA members and candidates.

Catherine ByGott and Richard Wainwright led the group in an exploration of readings from 'Mysterium Coniunctionis', Volume 14 of Jung's Collected Works.

On the first evening we watched the film 'Spring, Summer, Autumn Winter and. . . Spring'.   It is a powerful evocative film which we kept returning to in our reflections during the weekend. Catherine guided us through the chosen texts with small and large group work, use of imaginal work with writing, poetry and drawing.

Richard complemented this study using movement exercises. This encouraged the interaction with archetypal themes through play which included leading a blindfolded partner, balancing a stick, and reciting a text chosen from literature which we had to commit to memory

The Summer School was a joyful and moving event.
