AJA supports Dr Christopher J. Carter’s, (PhD, Jungian Analyst, LP, NCPysA New York) work concerning the need for corrective action as set out in the statement below.
- AJA denounces the aspects of Jung’s work that are racist and/or misogynist as detrimental and peripheral to analytic theory, which is about the differentiation and the relationship of opposing energies, and inclusivity toward the enlargement of the personality.
- AJA expresses regret for the harmful impact that may have foreclosed opportunities to collaborate with other psychoanalytic paradigms in theoretical development toward alleviating emotional distress and mental illnesses over the past 30 years.
- AJA supports analytic training institutes with increased attention to the impact of bias, prejudice, and heterogeneity. AJA supports increased attention to transcultural and intercultural perspectives and knowledge, as reflected in the curriculum and public seminars of analytic training institutes.
