Event Details

Join us if you are a Jungian analyst, analytical psychologist, or allied practitioner who wants to explore how the resources of analytical psychology can help us respond — personally, clinically, societally, and ethically — to the emergence of artificial intelligence. No prior knowledge of AI is required. This event is open to all who are curious about one of the defining challenges of our time.

  • What is the scale of what is happening, and what is the spirit of the times?
  • What archetypal and imaginal resources does analytical psychology offer to grapple with this phenomenon?
  • How might we personally, clinically, and ethically navigate our relationship with AI?
  • What next? Where do we want to go as a community in light of this moment?

What to expect:

Over the course of this half-day online event, you will hear four short presentations — each around 30 minutes, followed by open discussion — exploring AI through the lens of analytical psychology. Presentations will cover: an accessible account of what AI is and how rapidly it is developing; an astrological and cultural reading of this epochal moment; and two explorations of archetypal and imaginal resources, drawing on the myths of the ‘other’ and on Jung’s own encounters with non-human intelligences in the Red and Black Books. The event concludes with a conversation about next steps and the formation of a community of continuing interest.

Speakers:

Stephen Garratt — What is emerging with AI

Patrycja Jackson — A sign of the times? An astrological and epochal perspective

Orsolya Lukács — AI and the Imaginal: Archetypal Motifs and Myths of the Other

Richard Jenkins — Archetypal and imaginal resources: Jung’s Red and Black Books and the story of John Dee

This is a fully online event that will be recorded and made available to registered participants.
