In this presentation, Cédric Bouët-Willaumez will present a detailed overview of the work of the Multi-Lingual Psychotherapy Centre, drawing on the material presented in their latest book, “Mother Tongue and Other Tongues (Narratives in Multilingual Psychotherapy)”, and discuss in greater detail the influence that the presence, actual or potential, of a second language, has on the therapeutic process.
Since its inception in 1997, the MLPC has explored from a personal, narrative angle, the dynamic relationship between language, culture and psychotherapy. They have produced two books, held three conferences and dozens of lectures and workshops over the years to share their experience, as practitioners, of working clinically across different cultures and languages.
Cédric Bouët-Willaumez is a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice. He is a member of the MLPC’s executive committee and has presented papers, run workshops and published articles for the MLPC.
This event will be delivered both online and in-person at our Delancey Street centre. Please note that, due to limited space in Delancey Street, it is essential to confirm if you wish to attend in person to office@jungiananalysts.org.uk.
