This short paper explores ideas about the formation and use of symbols, bringing together reflections on meaning making, active imagination, the work of Jung and Ronald Fairbairn: illustrated by a clinical example.  

Biography: Dr Dale Mathers: a psychiatrist, humanistic therapist and Jungian analyst.  Author of ‘An Introduction to Meaning and Purpose in Analytical Psychology’
