Overview

I am looking forward to meeting with you all and exploring the theme of Cancelling and whether this is a cultural complex.

The topic is of course a truly ‘live’ one and brings with it all sorts of interesting and challenging questions and dilemmas:, relational, social, political and clinical.

The reading for the seminars is geared up to both set the context for our exploration and to generate fresh lines of thought which can inform our thinking and practice. In this respect the Helen Morgan article reminds us of the pervasive influence of cultural complexes while Pippa Norris outlines and critiques notions of ‘cancel culture’ from a political science perspective. It will be good to hear your observations and reflections on both these articles.

Please bring your own thoughts and possible practice and life examples around this topic as we delve further into what all this might mean for our practice, and professional and personal development.
